Palestinians in Gaza struggle to escape the effects of heatwaves

One of the most densely populated areas Gaza endures stifling summers with limited electricity.

The Gaza Strip has suffered chronic electricity shortages since 2006 when Israel bombed Gaza`s only power plant.

Israel bombed Gaza Power Plant’s fuel storage tanks in 2014 causing a humanitarian disaster.

Occasionally Israel blocks the entry of fuel needed to operate the current plant.

Over the past 16 years people have spent 95000 hours without electricity that’s about 10 years without electricity.

During the summer Gaza beach is always jam-packed with people.

94% of Palestinians in Gaza believe “the lack of electricity is affecting their mental health.”
