The Hamas Movement has condemned UNRWA’s signing of the Framework Agreement for 2023-2024 with the US administration which imposes certain preconditions on the agency.
Hamas called on UNRWA to immediately backtrack on such a move and to provide all forms of political legal and living support for Palestinian refugees wherever they are.
“That agreement indicates that the UNRWA administration has once again caved in to US pressures at the pretext of the financial crisis” the Movement said in a statement published on its website.
“Under the mandate granted to it by the UN General Assembly UNRWA is not a neutral party but has a duty to provide a decent life for Palestinian refugees and to back them in their quest for their political and civil rights foremost among them is their right to return and self-determination” the Movement added.
The Palestinian resistance movement has called on the UN body to seek alternative solutions for its financial crises and not to sign agreements that contradict its mandate with any party especially the US administration which is “heavily and unconditionally biased in favor of the Israeli occupation.”
In addition to other detailed conditions that target the Palestinian people’s legitimate struggle against the Israeli occupation UNRWA’s framework agreement with the US administration stipulates that no contributions by the US would be made to the agency except on the condition that all measures must be taken to ensure that no part of the US contribution could be used to furnish assistance to any refugee involved in military training or in any act of resistance which it labeled as terrorism.
