Israeli occupation authorities currently detain about 4900 Palestinian prisoners including 160 children and 31 women under harsh incarceration conditions.
Palestinian reports indicated that about 4900 prisoners are incarcerated in Israeli prisons including 1000 held under administrative detention without charge or trial.
The reports released on Palestinian Prisoner’s Day pointed out that 700 prisoners are suffering from different diseases including 23 with cancer. Meanwhile 19 journalists are among the detainees.
554 prisoners are serving life sentences 40 of whom served more than 25 years. In addition 23 others were arrested before Oslo Accords and are still held in jails the reports added.
