The Europeans for Jerusalem Foundation has confirmed that Israeli occupation forces have dangerously escalated their violations in East Jerusalem coinciding with their war on the Gaza Strip including carrying out killing operations that targeted 15 individuals including 5 children as well as conducting extensive raids arrests and detentions.
In its monthly report documenting violations in Jerusalem the Foundation stated that Israeli army forces committed 1515 violations which is approximately double the usual monthly violations. It emphasized that the most prominent violations were incursions and raids accounting for 36.9% followed by arrests at 25.3%.
The report pointed out the expansion of the occupation forces in nightly incursions accompanied by destruction and sabotage in the middle of the night as well as the theft of money from homes under the pretext of demanding large sums for the National Insurance Company and the Tax Authority.
Mass arrests were also carried out and administrative detention was imposed without reason based on suspicions of influencing public opinion. There were also campaigns to search phones in the streets and computers in homes targeting anything related to the Gaza war with the aim of arrest and harassment.
The report also highlighted extensive incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque accompanied by open rituals and an increase in extremist Israeli voices calling for demolishing the Mosque.
The report documented the participation of 8006 settlers under the guise of tourists in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque which was repeated over a period of 23 days (since the aggression Gaza started on October 7). Occupation forces and settlers carried out 17 attacks against the Mosque and its worshipers including 3 raids and 2 closures.
The report recorded 57 incidents of shooting and direct attacks by Israeli occupation forces in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem. This resulted in the killing of 15 citizens including 5 children and the injury of 22 citizens with dozens suffering from suffocation. Additionally at least 89 citizens were subjected to beatings and abuse.
The report documented that the occupation forces carried out 559 invasion operations in Jerusalem’s towns and neighborhoods during which 384 citizens were arrested including 33 children and 23 women. They also summoned 46 others and imposed house arrest on 39 citizens.
Furthermore the report documented 17 demolition operations that destroyed 14 houses including 7 that were forced to be self-demolished by their owners as well as 3 structures. Several notifications were distributed and 84 citizens were displaced.
Israeli occupation authorities continued implementing policies of deportation from Al-Aqsa Mosque or the city of Jerusalem. During this month they issued 22 deportation orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque or Jerusalem’s towns.
The report documented 35 attacks carried out by settlers resulting in injuries to several citizens and the destruction of numerous properties in addition to performing Talmudic rituals.
A total of 79 fixed and sudden checkpoints 8 street closures 2 travel bans and 6 violations related to press freedom were also documented in the report.
The report warned of the dangerous developments in Jerusalem including the violations the unleashing of extremist settlers to carry out attacks against citizens and attempts to impose new facts on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It noted the increasing suffering of Jerusalemites in parallel with the continuation of policies of Judaization repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque attempts to temporally and spatially divide the holy Islamic site and repeated attacks on “Bab al-Rahma” prayer hall and attempts to close it.
The report called on the European Union and the international community as a whole to fulfill their responsibilities and force Israel to respect the international law and UN resolutions including the Fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians. It also demanded an end to the state terrorism against the Jerusalemite civilians enabling them to perform their religious rituals in mosques and churches curbing the settlers and stopping the looting of the residents and their properties.
