The Muhjat Al-Quds Foundation reported that the Israeli administration of Rimonim prison had beaten the isolated Palestinian prisoner Iyad Jaradat last week.
Prisoner Jaradat revealed in a written letter that the jailers beat him after he rejected the administration’s decision to place another prisoner known for his maltreatment of other prisoners in his cell.
He added that the jailers pepper-sprayed him in the face before assaulting and that he remained in pain for days adding that the cell is still filled with the fumes of the pepper gas.
The Foundation for its part called on concerned international organizations and human rights organizations to assume their responsibility and pressure the Israeli authority to end its ongoing campaign launched against the Palestinian prisoners.
Prisoner Jaradat from Silat al-Harithiya town in Jenin Governorate has been detained since 2003. He is serving a life imprisonment sentence and 50 years.
Israeli courts had issued several prisoners including prisoner Jaradat four-year prison term in addition to imposing a fine of 2000 shekels on them claiming that they assisted Palestinian prisoners to escape Gilboa prison. Jaradat is now serving a life imprisonment sentence and 54 years.
