The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in a letter on Sunday to Washington’s top diplomat condemned Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich’s provocative remarks against the Palestinian people.
In their letter the foreign ministers of the six GCC countries urged US secretary of state Antony Blinken to respond to all the Israeli measures and statements that target the Palestinian people.
GCC foreign ministers also called on the US administration “to play its role in reaching a just comprehensive and lasting solution” to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the principles of the international law and the Arab peace initiative.”
The GCC ministers denounced earlier remarks by Smotrich calling for the Palestinian town of Huwara in the West Bank to be “wiped out” after two Israelis were shot dead there by a resistance fighter last February remarks he later walked back.
They also condemned the Israeli crimes that happened recently in the city and camp of Jenin and in other West Bank areas including Huwara Burin and Asira al-Qibliya.
