Dozens of settlers stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday morning, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan. Calls have been renewed to frequent the holy site to defend it against Israeli repetitive violations.

About 275 settlers carried out new incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, under the protection of Israeli occupation police who assaulted Palestinians and prevented thousands of worshipers from praying at the holy site.

Earlier on Monday, thousands of Muslim worshipers performed the Fajr (dawn) prayer, despite the Israeli restrictions imposed on their access to their holy site.

Local sources said that thousands of Palestinians from Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestine challenged the Israeli security measures in the holy city and managed to enter Al- Aqsa Mosque for prayers.

The Israeli occupation police have tightened their security measures around and in the Old City of Jerusalem, especially at the Aqsa Mosque, and deployed thousands of its forces in its streets.

Last night, the Israeli police also obstructed the movement of Palestinian citizens in the Old City of Jerusalem, provocatively searched many of them and barred others from entering the Islamic holy site.

Police officers also prevented Muslim worshipers from accessing the Mosque through al-Qatanin Gate.

Meanwhile, calls have been reiterated for a general mobilization, to frequent the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, to stay in it for performing prayers throughout the holy month of Ramadan, in defense of the Mosque and to break the Israeli siege that has been imposed on it for more than five months.
