The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza said that the Israeli occupation army continues its crime against Al-Shifa Medical Compound and those inside it and its surroundings, noting that there is information about the execution of more than 200 civilians from the displaced inside the compound and the arrest of about a thousand others.
Salama Marouf, the head of the GMO, added in a press statement on Thursday that medical crews and displaced persons inside the compound are being threatened with the bombing and destruction of buildings over their heads or being forced to come out for investigation, torture, or execution.
He explained that according to the testimonies of some survivors from inside Al-Shifa Medical Compound and its surroundings, Israeli tanks bombarded many buildings in the compound and set fire to large parts of it, while houses and homes of citizens in the surrounding area continue to be bombed and destroyed, including bombing them over the heads of their residents.
Marouf quoted witnesses as saying that the Israeli occupation forces closed down some residential buildings while residents are present inside. They shell and fire at these buildings resulting in martyrs and injuries who could not be evacuated.
He condemned this new and ongoing crime in front of the very eyes of the whole world, without anyone lifting a finger to stop this massacre against this medical institution and the civilians protected by the force of humanitarian law.
The GMO head emphasized that the lack of a strong and decisive stance on the part of the international community since the first invasion of Al-Shifa Medical Compound and the shelling of hospitals is what encouraged the occupation army to continue targeting hospitals and medical facilities and storming them.
