An international humanitarian group team surveyed on Sunday unexploded Israeli ordnance in the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip to ensure safety in light of the devastating Israeli war on Gaza which has been ongoing since October 7, 2023, according to a member of the team.

Nick, who did not reveal his last name, a member of the Humanity and Inclusion team, told Anadolu Agency on Sunday, “We are here to mark the unexploded bombs.”

He explained, “First of all, we must identify its type. Second, we must make sure whether it is safe or not, and third, we must examine the possibility of moving it and keeping everyone safe.”

The humanitarian volunteer sent a message to the residents of the area, saying, “You must not touch these weapons, play with them, or stand on top of them, as one unexploded missile is capable of destroying an entire building.”

“We only have to report these weapons when we find them, and not approach them at all. They are not toys, but rather dangerous items that threaten the lives of citizens,” he added.

A video clip had earlier been circulated by activists on social media showing a large unexploded bomb which landed inside a building in Deir al-Balah whose streets are filled with debris of Israeli bombardment.

Humanity and Inclusion is an international non-governmental organization that seeks to help people with disabilities and vulnerable people in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict and disasters.

The ongoing Israeli war on Gaza has so far left more than 112,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of many children, according to Palestinian and UN data.
