Pro-Palestinian protests continued across New York City on Wednesday, one day after the city police were brought in to put an end to encampments at Columbia University and the City College of New York.

Scores of pro-Palestinian protesters marched around the city Wednesday afternoon, while chanting slogans denouncing violent police practices against anti-war protesters and holding signs that read “Free Palestine.”

Some of the demonstrators were from student groups, and some said they were there to support the student protesters at Columbia University. They once again called on universities to stop doing business with the Israeli occupation regime.

Demonstrators told local media that they would not stop protesting until the Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip ends.

The campus of Columbia was cleared of encampments, but university officials say Hamilton Hall remains an active protest site. Police body camera video obtained by CNN showed officers breaching the academic building late Tuesday night, shouting, pining protestors to the ground and arresting them.

Students from Columbia say the city police used excessive force, caused property damage during the raid on the campus and brutalized people as they were protesting peacefully.

Meanwhile, outside City College, there were more demonstrations as people accused the New York police of being too heavy-handed and violent when they entered the campus Tuesday night and made arrests.

Meanwhile, there were tense scenes at different universities and colleges on Thursday as police forces moved onto campuses across the US in efforts to quell and arrest pro-Palestinian protesters.
