The Hamas Movement has called on the UN to take immediate action to stop the series of Israel’s terrorism and criminality against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
“Israel’s ongoing and intensive bombardments and its genocidal war against the defenseless civilians throughout the Gaza Strip are a practical response to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice that has declared the occupation [of Palestinian territories] unlawful and affirmed our people’s right to self-determination,” Hamas said in a statement on Saturday.
Hamas said that the past 24 hours had seen the martyrdom of dozens of civilians, mostly children and women, including journalist Mohamed Abu Jasser, his wife and children, stressing that the Israeli crimes in Gaza happen with direct support from the US administration.
The Movement also called on the UN to obligate the Israeli occupation regime to abide by the international resolutions calling for ending its aggression, siege and starvation war against Gaza.
The UN’s top court said on Friday that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories is against international law, in a landmark advisory opinion.
The International Court of Justice stressed that Israel should stop settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem and end its “illegal” occupation of those areas and the Gaza Strip as soon as possible.
