Armed settler tries to hit kids with his car north of al-Khalil

Friday 23-December-2016

An armed Jewish settler on Thursday evening tried to ram his car into two Palestinian school children and pointed his gun at them in Beit Ummar town north of al-Khalil.

Local activist Mohamed Awad said that a settler called Eliyahwa chased 11-year-old Ahmed Abu Maria and his sister Rittaj aged 7 with his car as they were walking back from their school to their house in Beit Za’ta area east of Beit Ummar town.

Awad added that the settler who works as a security official at the illegal settlement of Karmi Tsur changed the direction of his car in an attempt to run over the two children and then left the car pointing his gun at them before the kids hid in a house near the road.

He also said that the settler assaulted and shoved the father of the kids in the presence of Israeli soldiers who were sent to the area and threatened to kill him but the soldiers did not intervene and refrained from taking any measure.

This settler is notorious in the area for repeatedly assaulting and harassing Palestinian residents living in towns near Karmi Tsur settlement.
