Ahmed Bahar first deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) has called on the Palestinian people from all spectra to join forces to protect the Aqsa Mosque against recent Israeli escalation threatening its existence.
Bahar made his remarks in reaction to the intended participation of Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu in diggings beneath the Mosque and the decision to allow Knesset members to desecrate it.
The lawmaker warned that Netanyahu’s declared intent to partake in tunnel diggings under the Mosque and the permission given to right-wing Knesset members to defile its Islamic sanctity “give a very serious indication about what awaits the Mosque over the coming days and weeks.”
He added that “the involvement of the Israeli government’s higher echelon in targeting the Aqsa Mosque entails swift action to pool all efforts in defense of the Mosque before it too late.”
