Nickolay Mladenov UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process arrived in the besieged Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing.
According to local media sources Mladenov arrived in Gaza along with his deputy and some of his assistants on a short visit.
The UN official had already visited Gaza several times before to meet with local officials and personages.
Recently he and Egyptian intelligence officials managed to calm the situation in Gaza following another round of Israeli military escalation.
