The Red Valley also known as az-Zaqazeqa is not only a stretch of breathtaking scenery but also a place representing an eon of the Palestinian history that is carved in its mountainous rocks through hundreds of years.
A photographer from the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) visited the valley taking pictures of that history which is associated with dozens of ancient and contemporary stories of heroes and resistance fighters.
Local narrator Hamza al-Aqarbawi talked to the PIC about the valley saying it is a group of lowlands branching off from the mountainous slopes that connect the outskirts of Nablus city north of the West Bank with the Palestinian side of the Jordan Valley.
The valley extends from east of Aqraba town to Fasayil town near Jericho and the Jordan Valley and is characterized by its rugged and rocky terrain and captivating nature where there are many water springs green areas and dozens of migratory birds.
There is also a vast plain of red soil and this why it is known by locals as the Red Valley.
Narrator Aqarbawi dug up some memories from the revolutionary history of the place recalling noted resistance figures who came to the place including Izz ad-Din al-Qassam.
