Two more Palestinian prisoners were infected with the coronavirus in Section 10 of the Israeli Negev desert prison.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said on Wednesday that the total number of Palestinian prisoners infected with the coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic had reached 355 with the highest infections being in Ramon prison followed by Gilboa and the Negev.
The club pointed out that there is no accurate information about the health conditions of the infected prisoners.
Several prisoners who were infected with corona recently specifically in Ramon prison faced difficult conditions due to their isolation in Section 8 without providing the minimum health services it added.
The Israeli prison service (IPS) has delayed transferring several prisoners who were in urgent need of a hospital the last of whom was Khaled Ghaidhan.
The club called on the international human rights institutions and the International Red Cross to shoulder their responsibilities in monitoring the conditions of the sick prisoners and pressure Israel to allow a neutral medical committee to supervise the health conditions of the Palestinian prisoners.
Meanwhile the Israeli Army Radio quoted an Israeli political official saying on Tuesday “No doses of the vaccine will be transferred from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip.”
According to the radio the official said that none of the 5000 Moderna vaccines which Israel allocated to the medical teams of the Palestinian Authority will be transferred to the Gaza Strip.
Mai Al-Kailah the Palestinian Minister of Health confirmed on Tuesday that the vaccination against the coronavirus began as planned depending on the recommendations of the World Health Organization and part of the vaccinations will be transferred to the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.
The ministry had launched a vaccination campaign against the coronavirus starting with medical teams working in intensive care units in medical centers and hospitals treating coronavirus patients.
