Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan said that the Paris draft proposal for truce in Gaza is a US plan aimed at giving the Israeli occupation government more time to continue its aggression and launch new attacks.
In remarks to Al Arabi satellite channel on Tuesday, Hamdan said that the Israeli government refused to approve the US ceasefire proposal, affirming that the content of the proposal and the numbers mentioned in it are only an attempt by the US administration to save face.
Hamdan reiterated Hamas’s position on a ceasefire agreement, saying it should lead to an end to the Israeli aggression and siege and allow the reconstruction of Gaza without Israeli restrictions.
“The priority now is to stop the aggression, end the siege and bring in aid, while prisoner exchanges can happen later,” the Hamas official emphasized further.
Media sources reported on Tuesday that the Hamas Movement received a draft proposal hammered out by key mediators in Paris to materialize a ceasefire in war-torn Gaza. The draft includes a 40-day pause in the war and the release of 400 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for at least 40 Israeli captives.
