Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital’s administration has warned of an imminent health catastrophe unless the hospital is supplied with fuel within the next few hours.

The administration said in a statement on Thursday evening, “We express our deep astonishment and disapproval of the policy of procrastination pursued against the Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital. It has been long hours since we contacted the relevant authorities and the World Health Organization, which is responsible for fuel supply to the hospital, but we have received no response.”

“We announce to the world that Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital has a fuel storage capacity estimated at 50,000 liters of fuel, but the quantities being supplied do not exceed one-fifth at best, noting that the hospital needs more than 4,000 liters daily in order to be able to provide health services and appropriate medical care,” the statement added.

The Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital provides medical care and health services to more than 1,200 patients and wounded, including 600 patients with kidney failure, it highlighted.

The hospital appealed to the international community and all international organizations to supply the hospital with 50,000 liters of fuel in the coming hours before a health disaster strikes hundreds of patients and wounded.

Earlier on Thursday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health warned in a press statement that the Hospital which is located in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip was about to be out of service, adding that “the generators of the Hospital would stop in four hours from now.”
