The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced Morocco’s normalization deal with Israel and called on the ruling Justice and Development Party (JDP) to reconsider its support for the agreement.
In a statement on Friday Hamas considered Moroccan premier and JDP chief Saad-Addin al-Othmani’s signing of the US-sponsored deal and his party’s endorsement of the step “a departure from the party’s principles and positions in support of the Palestinian people and their national cause” and “a breach of the Islamist movement’s unanimous position against normalization of ties with the Israeli occupation state.”
The Palestinian Movement urged JDP to revisit and renounce the position and justifications it had declared in support of the normalization deal with Israel.
A few days ago the Moroccan government signed a normalization deal with Israel becoming the fourth Arab country to normalize relations with Israel in 2020 after the United Arab Emirates Bahrain and Sudan.
