The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced Morocco’s signing of a normalization deal with the Israeli occupation state.
“We strongly reject the signing of the three-party agreement between Morocco the US and the Zionist entity” member of Hamas’s political bureau Mousa Abu Marzouk said in Twitter remarks on Wednesday.
Abu Marzouk described the step as “reprehensible and not reflecting the Moroccan people’s supportive position towards the Palestinian cause.”
“We are deeply disappointed by [head of the Moroccan government] Saad-Addin al-Othmani’s signing of that agreement as we were expecting him to take an honorable historic position” he said.
For his part senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri condemned the deal as “a great disappointment to the Palestinian people and their national cause.”
“We express our dismay at the signing of such agreement by Moroccan premier Saad-Addin al-Othmani and we consider it a major setback for the Justice and Development Party” Abu Zuhri said in remarks on the website of the Hamas Movement.
Abu Zuhri urged the Justice and Development Party to reverse such step in order to maintain Morocco’s stature and the party’s history.
