Doctor Osayd Jabarin from Jenin joined his colleagues, the martyrs of the profession, who are still rising since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli war of genocide in Gaza.
Doctor Jabarin, 51 years old, a specialist in surgery at the Jenin government hospital, was on his way to work as usual, and after parking his car in a nearby parking lot and getting out, he was hit by a stray bullet from an Israeli force that had infiltrated the Jenin refugee camp.
Doctor Jabarin was known for his activity and perseverance in his work in receiving the wounded and injured in the surgery department at the hospital after each invasion of Jenin and its camp.
The healer is the victim
But on Tuesday morning, the roles changed, and the treating doctor became the victim.
One of the paramedics in the Red Crescent said, “At exactly 8:06 am local time, we received the news of an injury near the Jenin hospital, and as soon as we arrived, we discovered that it was Dr. Osayd, and there were no signs of life on him.”
He added, « We were used to Dr. Osayd being our partner in providing medical care to the wounded, in every invasion by the occupation forces of the city of Jenin, but this time he was the one in need of care. »
Tragedy of a skilled surgeon
Wissam Baker, the director of the Khalil Suleiman Government Hospital, said, “The medical sector has lost with the martyrdom of Dr. Jabarin, one of the most skilled doctors who was the head of the surgery department at Jenin Hospital.”
He continues, “Dr. Osayd devoted himself to working within the government health sector for more than 22 years, and was always present despite the difficult circumstances and the continuous incursions into Jenin governorate.”
It is worth noting that 493 medical personnel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank have been martyred since last October.
The Ministry of Health said that the Israeli occupation forces deliberately killed the martyr doctor Osayd Kamal Jabarin while he was on his way to work at the Jenin government hospital.
The Ministry of Health confirmed in a press statement that the crime of assassinating Dr. Jabarin with premeditation is a crime added to the series of daily occupation crimes and its continuous attacks on the Palestinian health sector in all its components, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The Ministry of Health mourned doctor Osayd, who was martyred by Israeli occupation forces’ (IOF) gunfire on Tuesday morning, during the IOF incursion into Jenin, and the launch of an aggressive military operation against the residents.
The IOF withdrew at dawn Thursday from the city of Jenin and its camp, after an aggression that lasted 40 hours, which left 12 martyrs, including 4 children, a doctor and a teacher, and more than 25 injured, some of them in serious condition.
The IOF bulldozers carried out excavation work to sabotage the infrastructure around the Jenin government hospital, amid continuous gunfire targeting the residents present in the vicinity of the hospital.
